What is a habit tracker?

A habit tracker is a great way to log positive behaviours. The more we practise repetition and consistency the greater chance those things become a habit. When we focus on only positive or desired outcomes through habit tracking we can create healthy habits and are more likely to maintain them for the long term. Being able to check off a completed task can psychologically feel like we have achieved something and make us feel good so we are more likely to want to do it.

You can also use a habit tracker to log things like healthcare issues such as a symptom log so you are able to observe improvements or complications.

Habit trackers can vary from daily trackers, to monthly trackers, even yearly or multiple-times-a- day trackers. Trackers are designed to be personalised to suit the needs of the individual and so what a habit tracker actually tracks is up to you.

Someone who perhaps wants to avoid skipping meals, might track their breakfasts, lunches and dinners in order to encourage themselves to eat more frequently. Someone who wishes to improve their sleep habits might wish to get up at the same time every morning and check off that they completed that. Sometimes people might just want to work out once or twice a month so a monthly tracker would be suitable for that.
